Police punish group of residents for not wearing face masks

The police punished a group of residents in front of the Mojolaban Sector Police for not wearing face masks while driving. Eight people boarded the pickup car without wearing masks when the mask control operation was underway.

The police began promoting mask control operation on Monday. The police take action against residents who violate health protocols. The health protocol includes the rules for wearing a face mask and the maximum capacity for one vehicle.

“Many residents still do not comply with health protocols that the government has established. They still do not wear face masks and obey the rules for the maximum capacity for one vehicle. It is also against the rules of not being in a crowd.” said one of the police officers who was on duty in the mask control operation.

The police give residents who violate health protocols push-ups as their punishment. They hope that the mask control operation can reduce the rate of increase in positive cases of COVID-19.

As of Thursday, Indonesia had recorded a total of 377,541 cases, with 301,006 recoveries and 12,959 fatalities. (Anjas Wahyu AS.)
