Sriwjaya Air Tradegy : Humanity Grief

Our heart are shaken every time an airplane crash occurs. It is because the grief was very deep, not only enveloped the victim’s family but also our fellow human beings. The tragedy shook humanity. We express our sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims of the Sriwijaya Air flight with flight number SJ-182 which crashed in the Thousand Islands, Jakarta, Saturday (9/1).

Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 bound for Supadio Airport, Pontianak, West Kalimantan, disappeared from radar at 14:40 WIB after taking off from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Banten, at 14:36 WIB. The Sriwijaya tragedy came in an instant. It happened only 4 minutes after the plane took off, reminiscent of the fall of Lion Air JT-610 on October 29, 2018 in the Java Sea, Karawang, West Java. Lion Air’s Boeing 737 MAX 8 also crashed after 13 minutes of taking off from Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

The form of sympathy is not looking for mistakes in the events that occurred while spreading hoaxes on social media. We leave it entirely to the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) to investigate the tragedy.

The important thing to do the best of this nation’s ability to search more optimally and find 62 people on board the Boeing 737-500. President Joko Widodo has instructed the mobilization of all these efforts. It must be honestly acknowledged that aircraft disaster management has been going well. As soon as it was discovered that the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 plane was missing from radar, all interested parties immediately stepped in and coordinated smoothly.

We hope that NTSC find the causes of the SJ-182 tragedy so that the world of aviation always learns from experience. It is necessary to find out whether the aircraft is airworthy or not, whether the fault lies with humans, technical problems, or the weather.
