Direct Learning at Schools is Still Prohibited in Karanganyar

 Direct learning at school is still a prohibited activity in Karanganyar, Central Java. The decision was taken by the Branch Office of the Central Java Education and Culture Service (Disdikbud) Region 6.

The Branch Office of Central Java Disdikbud Region 6 covers the Karanganyar Regency, Sragen Regency, and Wonogiri Regency, Central Java. Head of Regional 6 of the Central Java Disdikbud Branch, Suratno, clearly stated that currently SMA / SMK in Karanganyar have not been allowed to hold face-to-face learning.

The statement was made after Suratno gathered the SMA / SMK heads of Karanganyar Regency in the Hall of SMAN 1 Karanganyar, Tuesday (27/10/2020). Principals of SMA / SMK in Karanganyar Regency follow the socialization on the optimization of distance learning (online learning) and character building in SMA / SMK education units in Karanganyar Regency.

"It is still prohibited. It still follows the provincial policy, namely online learning. The main thing is to maintain the health and safety of children," Suratno said when talking with journalists.

He said schools were prohibited from holding activities that caused crowds during the Covid-19 pandemic. Under certain conditions, schools may carry out activities provided that they have obtained permission from the Central Java Provincial Education and Culture Office through the Regional Central Java Education and Culture Office Branch 6.

The head of the Karanganyar Regency education and culture office, Tarsa, explained that the Karanganyar Regency Government regularly coordinates with the Regional 6 Branch of the Central Java Disdikbud regarding learning during the pandemic. One of them is online and direct application for SMA / SMK must follow regional regulations.

"We strictly still prohibit [direct learning in schools]. The [Covid-19 in Karanganyar Regency] zone is still not safe. We follow the rules of the Ministry of Education and Culture to be comfortable and safe. Those who [SMA / SMK] want to open a school [learning directly at school] must follow the regulations in Karanganyar Regency, "said Tarsa when met by reporters at the Grha PGRI Building, Karanganyar Regency, Tuesday.
